In order to stay ahead of the game as a web designer it takes constant study and research. A career in web development is not like many other careers, once you have your degree and you have your foot in the door your good to go. In web development it’s a constant race, it’s either get in and really get in or get out. There’s allot of dead end web design companies out there that settle for last place and do not wish to or do not have the dedication to advance. Those type of web design companies end up getting buried in the end or try to catch up in the end and constantly trip and fall on their face.
In order to become a good web designer and stay a good web designer it is important to be fluent with all the new standards and innovations of the web. Web design and development is constantly and rapidly advancing, it’s not easy “staying ahead of the game”. With constant and consistent hard work, study and research Wiwork’s advanced web design and development team has managed to “stay ahead of the game”.

As a web designer, I relate to that post. It’s so hard to keep on everything if you’re going to school as well. Firms are starting to migrate back to the way of having developers that specialize in certain fields. Fortunate design firms have a web usability expert, information architecture specialist, art directory, etc. Some firms though, have people who are jack-of-all-trades. This was very popular to be the jack-of-all-trades after the dot com boom. A web designer could devote the rest of their life trying to master one particular thing be it Flash, or Photoshop, etc. So keeping up on Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Actionscript, Javascript, OOP, Dreamweaver, HTML, XHTML, XML, XSL, XSLT, Xquery, Xpath, PHP, MySQL, ASP, Apache/IIS, MSSQL, CSS, AJAX, Ruby on Rails, Cold Fusion, JSP, SEO, SEM, and all the industry news, new techniques, and new versions affiliated with them is quite rigorous. A lot of employers don’t realize that either. You’ll see job postings that want you to know all that stuff and have a degree, and they are starting at $20k. It’s laughable.
Then you have your rap or pop idols that don’t even know how to spell their own name making millions off songs they didn’t write. Then you have a rocket science that doesn’t make a fraction of what they do. Doesn’t add up does it?
Web Design and SEO is a way of life. If you’re reading this posting now to debate a career in web development. Either devote your life or find something new. Hate to be harsh but it’s the truth.
